Municipal polls: 4 injured in crude bomb explosion in Feni

Violence was witnessed during the municipal elections as four people including an Ansar member were injured in a crude bomb explosion in front of a polling centre at Feni’s Dagonbhuiya on Saturday.

An official said the explosion took place in front of Ganipur Government Primary School centre adding  police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. 

The injured — Ansar member Md Arif Hossain, former BCL president of Sindorpur union Anwar Hossain Sujon, Omor Faruque and Md Tarique — were rushed to a hospital.

Presiding Officer of the centre Md Golam Kibria said the voting was peaceful despite some stray incidents.

According to Counsellor candidate Kamrul Islam, supporters of ruling party candidate Salauddin Rubel exploded several crude bombs on Friday night in the area. One Main Uddin was injured in the incident.  

Partha Pratim Deb, inspector (investigation) of Dagonbhuiyan Police Station, said some people were injured as crude bombs were exploded at several places under the municipality since morning.
