Bangladesh reports new 1,049 Covid-19 cases, authorities alarmed over 24 fresh deaths

Covid-19 death toll in Bangladesh climbed to 7,452 after 24 death cases were recorded in the 24 hours on Sunday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) daily bulletin released on the day another 1,473 patients recovered from the pandemic through treatment at home and in hospital care during the same time.

The total recovery count in the South Asian country is 451,961.

The bulletin said out of the 24 deceased, 16 men and eight were women.

As many as 17 persons were from Dhaka Division, three from Chittagong and two each from Khulna and Rangpur.

Twenty-three of them died at hospitals while one at home. So far, 5,675 men (76.15%) and 1,777 women (23.85%) have died of Covid-19 across the country.

The DGHS said 13,005 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours.

As many as 12,650 samples were tested at the 167 authorized government and private labs so far.

Till now, 3,171,910 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall infection rate of 16.05%.
