Hunt for Lalmonirhat mob lynching accused Abul Hossain who remains absconding

Security agencies are searching for Abul Hossain alias Hossain Ali, who first assaulted and interacted with Abu Yunus Md Shahidunnabi Jewel who was lynched on rumours of Quran desecration on Thursday in Burimari of Lalmonirhat.

Abul Hossain, 38, runs a decorator business at Rumel Market, which lies close to the spot where Jewel was killed.

According to reports, Abul’s wife Jharna Begum told media that her husband been missing since Friday night.

Neighbours said Abul’s phone has been switched off from Friday afternoon. Some of them, however, spoke to Abul over the phone in the early hours of Saturday.

Two probe panels have been formed with law enforcers and journalists as the National Human Rights Commission and the Lalmonirhat district administration.

Jharna Begum, however, stood in defence of her husband saying he is not guilty of anything.

Abul on Thursday, the day when Jewel was beaten to death, said one of the locals that the stranger (Jewel) used abusive words at khadim Zubed Ali.

He further said seeing this, he got angry and slapped the outsider (Jewel) right across his face.
