Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the army to be best prepared to defend Bangladesh in case of any emergency situation like internal security crisis or breaking out any war against the country though her country doesn’t want war against anyone.
“For us achieving more strength to face any attack on the country should be the priority,” she said while virtually raising flags of the eight units and organisations of the Bangladesh Army from her official residence here.
She, however, said that Bangladesh wants peace and friendship and not enmity and war in accordance with the foreign policy of the country.
Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed also spoke at the function from the Sheikh Hasina Cantonment, Lebukhali, Patuakhali.
“We want peace and to make Bangladesh a developed country both economically and socially maintaining friendship to all,” she added.
She termed Army as an “asset” of the country and a “symbol” of the confidence and the trust of the people.
The PM asked army to be more “professionally-efficient” and “welfare-minded” with social and religious values.
“You have to be more competent, efficient, honest and welfare-minded being imbued with social and religious values to achieve desired standard of professionalism,” she said.
A contingent of the Army paid respect to the prime minister through a colorful parade.
