Whether on the pitch or otherwise, Bangladeshi cricketer Sanjida Islam just can’t stay away from cricket.
On Friday, barely a day before she tied the knot with cricketer Meem Mosaddeq, Sanjida stole the heart of millions. Attired in gorgeous yellow wedding saree, she was seen in Rangpur Stadium posing with a cricket bat.
The moments captured in photographs of the then bride-to-be cricketer became an instant hit on social media.
Sanjida told media that she along with two teammates were Shabnam Mushtari and Hasnat Cynthia went to take pictures in Kashaban inside the stadium, where kids were playing tennis ball cricket. She just could not resist the desire to hold the willow.
“I could not play for a long time and just wanted to do a shadow with the bat from them. Shabnam Mushtari and Hasnat Cynthia, my team mates, went on clicking,” Sanjida said.
Sanjida has played 16 ODIs and 54 T20s for Bangladesh national team. She also represented the country in the T20 World Cup in Australia last February and considers her 71-run innings against Thailand last year as one of her best innings.
She tied the knot with Meem Mosaddeq, who played first-class cricket for the Rangpur Divisional team.
With her wedding looks, she is winning the social space.
The ICC took to Instagram and shared her pictures and captioned it: “Dress, jewellery, cricketer bat. Wedding photoshoots for cricketers be like.”
